CMS has changed the comorbidity adjustments for 2022! In this interactive, web-based series we will discuss the coding and OASIS changes for 2022 based on the CMS final rule. Learn how to identify what items you need for thorough and accurate coding for your agency. Also we will discuss the new ICD-10 codes for 2022 and if what Primary clinical groupings and comorbidity groupings they fall into. Understand the importance of getting the information “right” from the beginning---at intake, and what you can do to change your practices now! Join us in this series for the important updates that matter to you as a coder/reviewer. Make sure you have an up-to-date coding manual for practice sessions.

J’non Griffin is a 34 year veteran of home care as an RN. She received her Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration in 2005. She has experience as a field nurse, director and executive with home health and hospice agencies, both large and small. She has served as Director of Staff Development and Appeals for home health and hospice agencies. She has taken part in mock surveys for agencies, and prepared agencies for accreditation. She has been directly involved in accreditation surveys, acquisitions and many regulatory crises with state survey agencies and the intermediary. As Regional Director of Operations for a home care company, J’non was ultimately responsible for the operations of several branch agencies. She completed billing audits, supervised personnel, handled employment issues and trained managers. Part of her responsibilities have included risk management, acting as Compliance Officer, development of policies and forms, survey compliance, appeals of Medicare denials, writing Corrective Action Plans, start-ups of parent and branch agencies, consulting with agencies on a variety of subjects and education of staff. J’non is certified as a Homecare Coding Specialist-Diagnosis (HCS-D), Certified in OASIS competency, COS-C, Certified in Homecare Coding Specialist-Hospice (HCS-H), Home Care Specialist-Compliance (HCS-C) and is an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM trainer/ambassador. J’non is an accredited ACHC and CHAP consultant. J’non is also on the board of Home Care Directions, and is a frequent contributor, along with an expert on HcPro’s Ask an Expert Panel. She has also been a frequent contributor to the Decision Health Publication, The Diagnosis Coding Pro, Published several manuals, and assisted with composition of several online modules for coding and OASIS instruction. She has presented several webinars and has been a nationally recognized speaker on a variety of subjects.
Attendees will be required to have a 2022 ICD-10-CM coding manual, as interactive coding scenarios will be an integral part of the learning experience. Code books will not be provided or sold by MHHA, and should be purchased ahead of time from a reputable source.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS
This program has been designed to meet the continuing education requirements for the Minnesota Board of Nursing for 8.0 contact hours. Application has been made for 8.0 HCS-D BMSC CEUs. It is the responsibility of the participant to assure that this program meets the licensing and continuing education requirements of their state board and to retain the required documents in his/her personal file. Attendees must participate in the entire presentation in order for contact hours to be awarded – partial credit will not be available. To apply for nursing contact hours, within one week following webinar participation, a completed sign-in sheet and evaluations from each individual must be returned to MHCA. Certificates will then be issued by e-mail.

You will be sent the recording link following the presentation and it will be available for 1 month following the webinar. The webinar format allows a concise and low-cost format plus the additional bonus of having access to the materials for 1 month and provides additional flexibility to ensure you have an opportunity to access the information.

Registrations may be shared between employees –registration includes agency access to the webinar. The handouts will be emailed to you to the email address you provide. Please feel free to provide an additional email address as a backup.
Cancellations must be in writing and received by Michigan HomeCare & Hospice Association on or before Wednesday, November 24, 2021 to receive a refund less a $25 cancellation fee (per registration). No refunds for cancellations made after the cancellation deadline or for no-shows.
Handouts, evaluation forms, sign-in sheets and related materials will be sent to you shortly before the program to the email address you provide.
