Wound Care Webinar Series 2020 - Webinar #1 Risk Assessment

The home environment creates unique challenges to prevent pressure injuries and/or heal pressure injuries. This program will review what puts your clients at risk for pressure injuries and interventions and equipment needed to prevent and treat wounds in the home environment.

Description

Program Objectives:

  • Identify risk factors that place a client at risk for pressure injury development or pressure injury decline.
  • Discuss the correlating interventions that will minimize, stabilize, or eliminate identified risk factors.   

Demonstrate how to utilize a risk assessment to ensure appropriate equipment and environment for the client to remain in the home.

PRESENTER

Jeri Ann Lundgren, RN, BSN, APRN, PHN, CWS, CWCN, CPT has been working in Post-Acute Care since 1990, specializing in wound care nationally since 1994.  She is board certified as a CWS (Certified Wound Specialist) by the American Board of Wound Management and a CWCN (Certified Wound Care Nurse) by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Society.  Her CWCN certification designates her as an Advanced Practice Nurse specializing in wound management. Currently Ms. Lundgren is the President of Senior Providers Resource consulting firm.

WHAT'S A WEBINAR?

Enjoy the convenience and cost-efficiency of a webinar – watch the speaker’s slide presentation on the internet while listening by telephone or through your computer’s microphone and speakers (VoIP). There is no limit to the number of attendees from your agency who may participate at your site using one phone line and a computer with internet access.

Prior to the webinar, a Zoom Webinar link will be e-mailed to you. You will need to click on this link to access the webinar, a dial-in number and an access code to listen in via telephone. You will also be sent any pertinent handouts if available and evaluation link.

 WEBINAR RECORDING

You will be sent the recording link following the presentation and it will be available for 2 weeks following the webinar. The webinar format allows a concise and low-cost format plus the additional bonus of having access to the materials for 2 weeks and provides additional flexibility to ensure everyone from your agency has an opportunity to access the information.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Minnesota HomeCare Association is approved as a provider of Continuing Education Credits by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing. Each course offering is approved independently for 1.0 contact hours. It is the responsibility of the participant to assure that this program meets the licensing and continuing education requirements of their state board and to retain the required documents in his/her personal file. Attendees must participate in the entire presentation in order for contact hours to be awarded – partial credit will not be available.  To apply for nursing contact hours, within one week following webinar participation, a completed sign-in sheet and evaluations from each individual must be returned to MHCA.  Certificates will then be issued by e-mail. 

EDUCATION PAYMENT POLICY

Registrations may not be shared between agencies – the agency’s registration covers the access of only one phone line/computer access to the webinar. Multiple site participation for your agency will require a separate registration fee for each connection. Please note: if your agency has sent in 1 registration but 3 people from your agency register through the Zoom link, your agency will be invoiced for the additional 2 registrations. The handouts will be emailed to you to the email address you provide. Please feel free to provide an additional email address as a backup.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations must be in writing and received by MHCA on or before Tuesday, May 26, 2020 to receive a refund less a $25 cancellation fee (per registration). No refunds for cancellations made after the cancellation deadline or for no-shows.  

 HANDOUTS

Handouts, evaluation forms, sign-in sheets and related materials will be sent to you shortly before the program to the email address you provide.
